"The Cardinal Drammer Rex"

"Skylette, also called the Cardinal Drammer Rex (since she was the first Drammer to rule over Rett), wearing her armor. It's heavily based off of the armor of Roman legionaries, with a bit of my own twist put on it. Since she weighs about a half-ton and most of that is muscle, she has no problem carrying all of that brass. And, for reference, that spear she's holding is 10 feet long.

I had to look up a lot of references to draw that armor, so I got pretty familiar with Roman-era garb for those few days. Funnily enough, a couple days after I had began this drawing we started a mini-project in my World History class where we had to draw a roman gladiator, complete with armor, based on what comes to mind when we think "gladiator" (which is often at least a bit inaccurate). I think I might've had a bit of an unfair advantage for that project.

I love the texture and shading on this one! Metal is hard to draw, but I think I did a good job here. I also like the yellow-blue contrast. And her muscles (which, sadly, the armor covers up a bit)."

"Afternoon by the Riverbank"

"What a lovely day for a kid and his numel to look at some rocks.

I love this drawing so much. Words can't even describe how much I love it. I'm so happy with the color scheme and the water and the landscape itself and- Aghhh! It's so good! This is the first drawing in a while I've been extremely happy with, so it's a good feeling."

"Cricket"

"So here's a little alien concept for you! I love designing non-bipedal or invertebrate body plans for sentient species. There are a few things you've gotta have if you want a sentient species: senses, the ability to move around in the environment efficiency, a way to manipulate its environment with precision, a large brain (or brain-like thing) and a thing that protects that, and a way to communicate with other species. Now, human bodies can do all that in ways we're familiar with, but how could another species do that? That's what I like to think about and figure out. It's like a puzzle!

Anyway, this critter (who I'm calling Cricket) is based more off of starfish and slugs. They're normally quadrupeds, but can stand up on two legs (or three, if they use their tail as another limb, which they often do). Those antennae up there are for smelling, which these guys do very well, and they can secrete a substance from their tongue that encourages cell growth! How 'bout that. (That last bit might be less than scientifically accurate, but hey, it's cool.)

Forgive the somewhat sketchy line-art in this one, it started out as a sketch and wasn't meant to be colored or shaded. By the time I got to coloring it, I really didn't feel like redrawing the lines to be neater. Or fixing the color overflow. Luckily, since her colors are so light, it's sorta hard to see. But it's there."

"A Beautiful Day"

"Of course, he's probably appreciate it more if he wasn't stranded on a desert island.

Man, that cliff face was so hard to do.... Have I mentioned I hate drawing rocks? I hate drawing rocks. And that overturned boat, too -- the trees -- man, there was a ton of really hard-to-draw things in this picture. For it being so difficult, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out over all. The cliff face still isn't the best, but I decided it was good enough and moved on.

There's a relatively small amount of evidence that this project even existed. You're looking at the only real thing that came out of it.

It was a very short-lived thing that I worked on during the summer of 2016 about a guy (who I dubbed "Mr. L") who was stranded on Raoul Island, an island south of New Zealand. I did a whole in-depth study for this thing -- I researched ship routes, the island's ecosystem (did you know that Raoul island has a problem with a population of feral cats?), history of travel to the island, climate across the year... I even drew my own map of the island and labeled where his camp would be.

For all of my research, though, there was no actual product, aside from this one drawing and a handful of sketches. But it was still fun to do.

"Grandmaster Juno"

"I've been playing a lot of Fire Emblem this summer. As a result, I've grown pretty attached to several of the in-game characters, one of which I decided to draw here. Her name is Juno, and she's the protagonist (who you can customize a bit, hence why she has a different name and appearance than someone else's player character might).

This pose gave me a lot of trouble... It was very, very stubborn. Originally I wanted both of her hands to be grasping her sword, but I had already drawn and detailed her entire body besides her right arm, and I realized that there was no way to have that arm hold her sword and still look natural. Because I really didn't want to redraw the entire thing, I settled for this pose instead. I kind of like it better, though, because it shows off more of her electricity magic (sure, in-game she'd need a tome for that, but we're just gonna call it artistic license)."

"Bottled Cider"

"Now if only his last name was "Apple".

This was a fun picture to draw (and not just because I could be lazy on the background). I like the way that his feathers look overall -- I tried a new way to draw them because drawing them hyper-realistically like I attempted to in the last picture of Cider ended up just looking sloppy. I'm much more fond of his simplified feathers. They also look greener, and I like the contrast. And now everyone can see my horrible handwriting, yaaay!

Cider has also changed a TON in the last two years. I mean, look at his face in this picture and the last one. Compare them. Seriously. In the first one, he's smug and obviously thinks he's superior to everyone on the Platform. And then look at him in this one! "Hey guys! I'm in a bottle! How cool is that?!""

"Breakdown"

"The aftermath of "Don't Protect Me": when Cornelius' magic does indeed become too much for him and tear up his surroundings. He's eventually subdued and captured, but not without a few casualties, Tomma being one of them."

"Lilies and Arteries"

"Bludmar in her heyday. Before the whole magic thing, she was a very pretty and kind nam. She used her magic that allowed her to control and sense the contents of blood to check for diseases in her patients, and even remove them. She loved to garden, as well, and spent almost every spare moment growing and breeding flowers, specifically lilies. She even bred a new species and gave them to people as gifts. They were called "Marra lilies" in her honor (those are actually a real type of lilies, though they go by a different name here on our little planet. They're called "stargazer lilies").

Originally, there was supposed to be the current, magic-possessed Bludmar standing below her old self, with tendrils tearing off of old Bludmar's dress forming new Bludmar's blood-arms. However, I decided not to do this. Why? It looked dumb."
