Arcadia

"My player character from Starbound, Arcadia! My glowy, uptight, angry novakid. She’s got sweet copper greaves (that took an eternity to find in-game, I should add… So many wilderness biomes *shudder*) – I just went and had a field day with the shading on those, and on her scarf thing. Her game sprite is in the corner!

(A tip for anyone else who likes to play Novakids and wishes that there was more brand variety – you can just make your own by choosing no brand on character creation and then just making a brand as a custom hat using Hatter. Though then there’s the downside of not being able to wear an actual hat, I ‘spose… But you could add it into the sprite if there was one in particular you really wanted.)"

"Esther and the Dawnbreaker"... and a Glitch

"Hopefully this image will serve as an adequate explanation of why I haven’t been posting much lately.

The Dawnbreaker looks so cool."

"I’m really enjoying the new “ascend to Sovngarde” feature in Skyrim’s death cinematics!"

Another merged post. They're just so convenient.

I was missing so much by not playing Skyrim earlier... I'm still making up for lost time with this beautiful game.

The Church Grim

"Has anyone played Year Walk? It’s an excellent game that’s not terrifying, but has a good dose of horror. I’ve played it several times now, and I just did my last run of it on New Year’s Eve (which is a very interesting experience, since it’s when the game takes place and it adds to the haunting feeling of it all). I thought it might be fun to try to draw one of the creatures from the game, since they’re all very neat to look at, so have a quick sketch of the Church Grim.

(As a side note, cloth that drapes on the ground is a real pain to draw. I’m still learning how to get it to look right. Also, we can just ignore the fact that there’s some real weirdness going on with the proportions of the Grim’s arms under that cloak. Look at the pretty goat face. it will distract you.)"

"Noble Volkie"

"I've been playing some Fire Emblem again! This time, I've been playing the newest game (well, I suppose it's not exactly the newest anymore, since it's been out for over a year): Fire Emblem Fates! It's quite fun! I thought that I'd draw my player character, Volkie, looking rather dragon-y as a result of her heritage. While the player character does turn into a dragon in the game, they seem to alternate between totally human and totally dragon, and you know what? That's boring. So I drew Volkie looking a tad dragon-esque for fun."

"Grandmaster Juno"

"I've been playing a lot of Fire Emblem this summer. As a result, I've grown pretty attached to several of the in-game characters, one of which I decided to draw here. Her name is Juno, and she's the protagonist (who you can customize a bit, hence why she has a different name and appearance than someone else's player character might).

This pose gave me a lot of trouble... It was very, very stubborn. Originally I wanted both of her hands to be grasping her sword, but I had already drawn and detailed her entire body besides her right arm, and I realized that there was no way to have that arm hold her sword and still look natural. Because I really didn't want to redraw the entire thing, I settled for this pose instead. I kind of like it better, though, because it shows off more of her electricity magic (sure, in-game she'd need a tome for that, but we're just gonna call it artistic license)."

"Mathra"

"I used to play a lot of those educational games as a child, and I remember being fascinated with one of them. It had the usual doses of mathematics and logic, sure, but the antagonist was A GIANT GREEN DRAGON. I just thought that that was the coolest thing ever. I still remember it to this day. And so, I thought that I'd give drawing Mathra a try."
